We are excited to announce a new course on elementary Marathi language at the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, University of Oxford. This course is designed for beginners with a knowledge of another Indian language and of the Devanagari script, offering a comprehensive introduction to Marathi, one of India’s most vibrant languages. Through interactive lessons, students will explore basic grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, while also gaining insights into the rich cultural heritage of Maharashtra. Professor Imre Bangha will teach Marathi grammar on Thursdays at 1 PM, and Dr Ashwini Mokashi will conduct practice sessions on Fridays at 1 PM (BMR-3).
