The Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies congratulates our colleague, Professor Tahera Qutbuddin, on her outstanding achievement. Professor Qutbuddin has been awarded third place in the prestigious Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding (Arabic to English category) for her work on Nahj al-Balāghah: The Wisdom and Eloquence of ʿAlī.
This seminal work, published in April 2023, provides a masterful translation and commentary on the celebrated sermons, letters, and sayings of ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, bringing his timeless wisdom to English-speaking audiences. The book is available in Open Access, ensuring it can be widely read and appreciated.
The Sheikh Hamad Translation Award, presented in Doha, recognizes excellence in promoting cross-cultural understanding through translation.
