Research Interests:

Social anthropology, with regional interest in Sudan and the Middle East. Topics of interest: economic and social development, social differentiation, sectarian politics, oral literature, Gulf Shaikhdoms and Middle East and North Sfrican immigrants in Europe

Current Projects:

  • An anthropological monograph on a community in northern Sudan
  • Analysis of the oral traditions of nomads in northern Sudan
  • Letters from the Gulf Shaikhdoms by Peter Lienhardt
